Reverend C. Brenda Freeman (First Lady)
... was born in the small coal mining community of Keystone, West Virginia in McDowell County. Rev. Brenda is the youngest of 15 children of Mr. and Mrs. Pink and Elizabeth Edgerton. She was reared and educated in McDowell County Schools. In addition to being a very supportive wife of Rev. Dr. John E. Freeman, Pastor of United AME Church in Xenia, OH, she is also the devoted mother to Rev. Michael Freeman, the Pastor of New Jerusalem Second Baptist Church in Urbana, OH with his wife Mia supporting him and Michelle Elizabeth Freeman, who is a LPN and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Rev Brenda is the grandmother of two, Cierra and Christopher, both in college, and the great-grandmother of one, Mia Freeman.
Rev. Brenda is a graduate of Elkhorn Hish School and Wilberforce University. She has worked in the Health Care field for more than 25 years. Presently, she is empolyed as an Activity Assistant at Friends Care Community, Yellow Springs, OH.
Rev. Brenda has served in the African Methodist Episcopal Church since 1971 in Church School, the Lay, The Missionary Society, Choirs, Bible Study as a member, officer, teacher; she was elected several times to serve as Delgate to both Annual and General Conferences. She was ordained a Local Elder in 2003. As an Ordained Minister, she has been supprtive at Central Chapel, Yellow Springs, OH and now United A.M.E. Church Xenia, OH. She led many fundrasing campaign events in both locations. She has received numerous
awards for the things she has done to enhance the church ad communities in which they have served. She recently received the 2013 West Central Region STAR certificate in redognition of the extreme dedication, hardfelt compassion, and exemplary service she shared unceasingly with residents and families. Her favorite scripture is Isaiah 54:17 which states, "No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me, declares the LORD."
Rev. Brenda is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Rho Omega Chapter of Wilberforce, OH, a member of the African American Ministerial Alliance of Greene County and several other church and community organizations.
Rev. Brenda is a consumate care-giver, mother, supporter of the needy, discerner of those who are hurting and, above all, a dedicated woman of GOD!
