United A.M.E. Church traces its history to 1833 with the formation of a prayer group. Following the 1974 devastating tornado that struck Xenia, two churches (First A.M.E. Church and St. John A.M.E. Church) merged and became one, United A.M.E. Church. The Sanctuary Choir is a viable component of the Church and is dedicated to reaching, helping, sharing and leading people to a commitment to Jesus Christ.
